Plane found in Utah confirms missing Shafter flight tragedy
Search teams located wreckage in rugged mountains about 14 miles east of Fillmore Airport near Richfield Utah. The aircraft disappeared after a refueling stop in Fillmore en route to Gillette Wyoming. Three aboard were killed pilot Matthew Ahrens his girlfriend Trista Meyer 34 and her daughter Shyanne Lenz nine. Authorities reported little detail but confirmed all aboard died.

Kern County Fire Department used an uninhabited building at the corner of Shafter and Merced Avenues for a live training exercise. The academy staff conducted the session to teach new recruits how smoke travels and fire behaves inside a burning room.
