Car Demolished by Streamliner at City Crossing
Santa Fe fast streamliner struck a car owned by H. F. Janzen of Shafter at Central Avenue crossing yesterday at 11 40. The driver and a passenger escaped uninjured after leaping from the stalled vehicle as the train approached. Wreckage stretched 100 yards. the engine and last cars suffered heavy damage. The streamliner was brought to Fresno by freight engine and resumed to Cece Francisco. another report states a man was killed near Corcoran.

Recreation Building To Be Equipped At Shafter Army Center

The Shafter Army Recreation committee voted up to 500 dollars to establish the center in the Handel building near the post office, with WPA labor and local funds covering interior remodeling and furnishings. Utilities will be paid by the committee, and supervision will be through the WPA.
