Kern County Youths Honored at Los Angeles Livestock Show
Kern County youngsters from Wasco and Shafter won junior exhibitor awards at the Great Western Livestock Show in Los Angeles. Gordon Kirschmann of Shafter earned the Vernon Sions Club program award for producing a future champion steer, while Cheryl Bauer of Wasco won a California Shorthorn Breeders Association honor. The Wasco 4-H Club pion for Shorthorn steer also received a group award from the 48th om er District bank. More than 650 people attended this year.

Building Permits in Shafter Reach One Hundred Thousand

Annual Meet of District CFG Set for December 3

Accident Victims Recovering With Visitors At Home
Report on injuries from the accident lists Miss Eriene Enns leaving hospital care to home visitation at her parents’ home. She is allowed to resume schooling at Wasco High School on a limited basis. Nine year old Phil Klassen remains at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital with a badly fractured left leg in traction awaiting surgery. He will stay in bed six weeks after a cast and will then be able to return home.

Passed Away Left No Relatives Post Office Christmas Tragedy
Hundreds of Christmas cards died last December 25 at the local Post Office with no known survivors due to missing addresses. Officials say death could have been avoided with proper postage and return addresses. Services were held in the Post Office and burial in the waste paper basket under the Dead Letter Branch.
