Richland School District board meeting reviews reorganization talks

Shafter High Opens 1986 Fall Term And Council Actions
Shafter High School begins the 1986 fall term on Tuesday September 2 at 8 05 in the auditorium with schedules to be distributed after the opening assembly. The city council approved the budget with Johnny Thomas abstaining. A contract for architect Don Christensen to provide downtown facade drawings was approved. Councilman Hiebert noted a letter from Kern County parole agent R J Donahue praising the police department and city services. Zachary reminded of the Shafter Celebration on September 13. The next council meeting is September 8 at City Hall. Mandatory public participation invited.

SCH Employees Honored by Flora Nichols at Convalescent Home
The Shafter Convalescent Hospital observed National Nursing Home Employee Week with a deep pit barbecue luncheon and an ice cream sundae party hosted by Director Wayne Smith.
