Kiwanis Slide Show Highlights Ghana Trip
Kiwanis Club of Shafter members enjoyed a slide show by David Morris about the second Ghana trip. Morris, a Church of Christ missionary in Shafter, described Ghana Bible College training native ministers during a two week seminar and shared observations on the country’s geography climate and travel challenges.

Glider Playday Highlights Youth Park District Events
LAPD Tuesday saw children in grades preschool to sixth compete in glider making and flight contests with prizes for winners. August 18 hosted a checkers tournament won by Cameron Crabb. The Shafter Recreation and Park District extends the pool season with hours 1 00 to 5 00 p m Monday to Saturday and 2 00 to 5 00 p m Sundays Adult swim runs 12 00 to 1 00 p m Monday to Friday No evening swim during extension Pool rentals require advance booking seven days prior at 20 per hour with a two hour minimum and a 25 refundable deposit
