Big rig collision on Highway 46 west of Bakersfield
A 61 year old Abilene truck driver William Riggle Jr. crossed into the eastbound lane on Highway 46 near McCombs Road and struck a Buick head on killing 52 year old Maria Conception Estrada of Bakersfield who was a front seat passenger. Jose Hernandez 55 also of Bakersfield was severely injured and taken to KMC. Riggle sustained minor injuries and the crash occurred around 8 30 p m Sunday as part of a corridor with ongoing widening planned under KernCOG s 2030 plan.
