Laidlaw seeks big expansion for Buttonwillow waste site
Laidlaw Environmental Services plans to expand its Buttonwillow hazardous waste dump to about 90 acres over 10 to 20 years and nearly tenfold its size. A public meeting is set for Aug 29 at the Buttonwillow Senior Citizens Center. The permit would allow redevelopment, regulatory updates, and storage of pesticides and household waste with assurances no PCB dioxin or radioactive waste will be dumped. The project requires state and federal approvals and would not significantly increase total waste.
