Reagan backs Amtrak concern for San Joaquin Valley service
Gov. Reagan says he shares Kern County Board of Trade worries over Amtrak service declines in the San Joaquin Valley and statewide. In a letter to Board President David Parker, he notes DOT asked Amtrak for explanations of recent changes and pledges faster refurbishment, with smaller 38 passenger cars used on valley trains and a second diner shifted to the coast route. The board criticized the downgrade from dining cars to vending and older coaches, urging restoration to the March 5 level of service.
