Spiva couple's long life together ends in tragedy
Lorene Penrod recalls Betty Spiva and T.C. Spira, known as Gismo and Petty, a Bakersfield couple who married on June 12 1948 and raised daughters Nancy and Sue. After a life of double dates, a shared watch, and a steady home, a 1975 dust storm and car pileup in Arizona claimed Mike and Sue Spira, leaving Betty and T.C. to mourn and honor their forty years of faithfulness and enduring love.
