Redistricting plans emerge from Shafter Wasco workshop
Residents from Shafter and Wasco gathered at the Wasco Veterans Hall for a Kern County supervisoral boundary redistricting workshop. Facilitator Ross Elliott explained more than seven proposed plans from West and East side residents, aiming to balance districts while preserving two Eastside districts. A Wasco plan was saved for submission with 11 other workshop ideas. A second Bakersfield hearing is set for August 21 with a final draft due by October, subject to extension.
