She will reside in the Page Residence Hall Aug 31 to Jan 23, attend Library of Congress High School, and work in the House Daily with a salary of 1386.33 plus 400 monthly dorm costs.

Bakersfield Christian High School to Open August 18
Bakersfield Christian High School will open its doors Monday August 18 2003 with a ribbon cutting. The 50 acre campus serves grades 9 12 and expects 250 to 300 students from the Bakersfield area. The project began last December and totals about 20 million dollars.

Public hearings set on Kern County budget in August
The Kern County budget draft totaling 982 million dollars moves to the Board of Supervisors with public hearings scheduled for Monday August 11 and Tuesday August 12. DA offices in Shafter and Lamont remain open after a reconsideration, while 340 vacant positions will be deleted and hiring and equipment purchases tightly controlled to avoid layoffs and meet growing service needs.

May building permits rise for third straight month
Kern County reports May 2003 building permits totalled 604 656 with GMC Roofing and Building work at 224 070. Year to date shows 6 037 384 versus 51 024 223 for 2002 five months. Wasco May 2003 permits totalled 524 101 with five homes valued at 419 419. Year to date Wasco down from 5 181 405 in 2002 to 3 688 050 in 2003.
