California Single Payer Plan Aims for Universal Health Coverage
Alarmed critics warn the proposed Single Payer Initiative would merge public and private health insurance into a state funded program for California residents meeting wage or tax criteria. Critics argue it would devastate the economy, spur company departures, inflate bureaucracy, raise payroll and income taxes, and disrupt workers compensation and insurance markets.
