Walker honored for service with city and chamber awards
Walker received a Unity Service Award from the Shafter Chamber of Commerce after a lifetime of volunteer work. He previously served on the Shafter Recreation and Park District board and was the first president of Shafter’s local AARP chapter. He helped deliver meals to seniors and supported the senior nutrition program at Kern County Economic Opportunity Corporation. Walker and his wife Evelyn celebrated nearly 50 years of marriage in January 1989.
