California approves new disabled parking placard system
California moves to standardize disabled parking with a new rear view mirror placard issued by the DMV from January 1995. The old placards expired June 30 1995 and the new permanent placards along with red temporary placards and disabled veteran plates enable reserved space use while preserving meters and no parking zones. The change aligns with federal standards and aids enforcement while easing reciprocity with other states.
