Memorial for Ronnie Lopez Rosary and Burial Services Held
Ronnie Lopez, born February 29 1964, died April 18 in a south of Shafter auto crash. He was a Bakersfield native raised in Shafter, a Richland Elementary and Shafter High School alum, played on the track team and was a running back on the 1981 league champion football squad. Funeral rites were in Peters Funeral Chapel and St. Therese's Church with Father O Neill officiating. interment in Shafter Memorial Park. He is survived by his mother Lydia Lopez, grandmother Margaret DeLa Rosa, three brothers Domingo Jr, Albert, Paul, and sister Katy Ann Wilson. The family notes his heroic effort saving his niece before the car burst into flames.

Elizabeth Unruh Thiessen 88 died April 15 in Bakersfield. Graveside services were held April 22 at Union Cemetery Bakersfield with Rev. Henry Harder officiating. She married John J. Unruh in 1921, later Ed Thiessen in 1979. survived by three daughters, a brother, a sister, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
