A Wasco event at Giordano's Steak House honored a local woman. Decorations featured pink camellias and a blue motif. Hostesses included Mmes. Paul Evans Bob McClain Jerry McGinnis and Frank Rolin. Cake and punch were served.
Miss Shirley Bryant wed Arthur Craig in a 3 PM April 8 ceremony at the First Baptist Church in Shafter. Officiated by Rev. Mel Krug, the event drew about 150 guests and featured daffodils, a two cake reception, and plans to reside near Bene Se Camp’s stables.
The American Legion Post 213 announces a Bell Observance with pledge of allegiance and a prayer for peace at Union Church in Shafter. The program titled The Bells Across the Nation is led by Joe Coates Americanism chairman Janes Bartlett.
Mr and Mrs Lloyd Osborn and Darrell of Kernville spent Thursday in Shaffer on business and visiting relatives in this area.
Henry Janzen and Annie Enns celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house at First Mennonite Church Shafter from 3 to 5 PM. Guests include Anna Enns, Mrs. H F Chadderdon, and relatives from North Dakota Minnesota California and relatives. They married in Munich North Dakota in 1912 and moved to Shafter in 1924.
Beta Zetans of the Delpha Kap pa Gamma Society met Sunday afternoon April 8 for the members. Mrs Helen James of Gardena second vice president for the California Delta Kappa Gamma Society and a consultant for the Los Angeles county schools was the speaker.
Eastern Star Wasco Chapter 489 met Monday night at the Masonic temple with Gladys M. Brown presiding alongside Le Roy Yeates. Esther Sandman, grand conductress of California, visited and was escorted to the East as eight conductresses from Kern County attended.
Visiting dignitaries Mildred and Clarice Kofahl plus Pauline Edgeman were presented in the East with past matrons and patrons. Jusia Potter, Wasco's 60 year member, was introduced. Five initiates received degrees Martha Beach, Erdalene Coodey, Ethel Douglas, Joyce Thompson, and R. Robert Evata before a banquet with Wilma Bradshaw serving as flower chair.
