Shafter police officer Ryan Hoyt stopped a vehicle early Sunday and halted a tagger gang from Orange County. Three men and a fourth ran. 20 BNSF boxcars displayed fresh paint and beer bottles nearby causing $100,000 in damage. Arrested for vandalism, conspiracy and trespassing were Mike Johnson Herbert George and Jeff Canham.

Gas main struck during construction near Fresno and Central Valley Highway
Last Wednesday around 11 a.m. construction crews damaged a two inch gas line while laying a water line at Fresno and Central Valley Highway. Traffic was diverted for about 2 1/2 hours as Kern County Fire Department and PG&E responded and the California Highway Patrol managed highway safety.

Warbirds Return Airshow at Minter Field May 11 2002
The Minter Field Air Museum brings back the Warbirds in Action Airshow on Saturday May 11 2002 at Shafter Airport marking the 50th anniversary of the Korean War. A one day show features WWII aircraft such as the Mustang and Expediter and may include veteran Korean War aircraft including an F 86 Sabrejet and a MiG 15.
