Shafter Parade Sets Home Style Floats for Festival May 17
The sixth annual Shafter Potato and Cotton Festival parade will feature a new home-style float division to diversify the procession. Parade chairman Kyle Austin announced the theme Shafter Salutes highlighting cotton and potatoes with a 46-entry lineup including mounted groups bands and Western outfits. A grand marshal selection is being planned by a joint American Legion Veterans of Foreign Wars committee with a likely April 23 announcement to honor veterans during Armed Forces Days.

Maple Seeks Renewal of $2 School Tax Rate
