Mrs Ed Brown chaired the queen contest and the meeting featured the Shafter High School Glee Club under Ernest Graf. Joyce Morris sang a vocal solo and Bernie Wallace joined as a new member. A gas drum fire on the Buttonwillow McKittrick Highway was quickly put out by county firemen. no explosion occurred. The drum belonged to Kern Copters Inc.

Auto Mishap Hurts Woman
Mrs. Jack Crawford of Lachen maier Ranch was injured last Friday evening in an automobile accident at Lerdo Highway and Manuel avenue. She sustained minor injuries and was taken to Kern General Hospital. The crash involved Jack Bellows of Shafter who was turning onto Manuel from Lerdo. Bellows was cited for not having an operator's license.
