Carrots from the Ben Sill ranch east of town on Lerdo road began shipping this week with 80 acres to be handled soon, crates formed in the field and quality reported good. Edison sees early potato digging, with Shafter growers active in Edison and Arvin districts as lettuce also ships. Labor shortages hinder harvests as some spinach is harvested in wine ascended areas.
