The Pondering of a Retired English Teacher
A Shafter CA column reflects on aging literacy, changing student writing, and parental responsibility. The writer recalls a 1949 high school era essay by Ewen and Dolly Hei, notes declines in modern literacy, and urges values from family over schools or society. The piece ends inviting reader correspondence.
