Lieut. Chester L. Butler said John Cheshier of Indianapolis confessed that he and three others hijacked near New Albany stealing 300 cages of beer. Police recovered the beer on a farm southeast of Indianapolis and arrested John Samuel Dunkin of St Louis and Howard Fall. A fourth member is sought. Separately two New Albany truckmen were robbed of 250 cases of beer near Versailles on U S Route 50, with suspects allegedly an organized Southern Indiana gang.

Alexander Williams, 61, longtime Seymour resident and former police chief, died at his home after months of illness. He was employed by Seymour Manufacturing for 40 years except for his police service. Born February 9, 1872, he married Mary Violetta Peacock in 1894. Survived by widow, two daughters, two sons, a brother, two sisters, and six grandchildren. Funeral at First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. A A Cohn, burial Riverview Cemetery. Two men believed to be tied to thefts around Scipio two weeks ago have been taken to Indianapolis to answer vehicle taking charges. They were captured hiding in weeds in Geneva township Jennings county. A revolver a two gallon can and siphon hose were found in their car. They admitted stealing the car and robbing filling stations near Indianapolis. Names given as Charles Thompson 19 and John Lockibill 20 both of Indianapolis.
