Jackson county farmers report the wheat harvest well under way and likely to finish in a week to ten days. Threshing may start late June or early July with yields near 370000 bushels, below the county's 450000 bushel normal. Rye is about normal while oats suffer drought and poor quality.
Mrs. Cynthia Holland age eighty two of Leesville died this morning at 3 o'clock. She was a woman of splendid Christian character and a loyal friend to all who knew her. No funeral arrangements have been received here. Mrs. Holland was an aunt of W. H. Hughes Mrs. Grace Goss Raymond Weddle and Mrs. Florence Lanier all of this city.
Frank Hunter aged 78 died at his home 425 in dianapolis avenue at 10 o clock Wednesday night after two years of poor health. He was born September 25 1852 in Can nerburg and lived in the community three years after blacksmith work. Survived by wife Abbie Alford died seventeen years ago three sons Roy Hunter Leo Knnter John Knnter and daughter May Trautman nine grandchildren. Burial in Loogootee after service at Voss mortuary. Member of United Brethren church.
The Immanuel Lutheran church picnic will be Sunday June 22 at Gaiser Park South Walnut. Organized by the Lutheran Club and Ladies Aid Societies, the event starts at noon with a basket dinner and includes planned features for attendees.

Four of the six McWittrick children in Chicago have died from a mysterious poisoning. A fifth child showed slight improvement after a blood transfusion. Health officials led by Commissioner Arnold H. Kegel investigate possible bacterial origin, foods, puddles, or contaminated water as the source.
Associated Press reports Judge John H H Morris in Newcastle Indiana considers evidence in Karl Gentry's suit seeking return of 1300 dollars paid to Rushville attorney John Kiplinger. Gentry alleges Kiplinger cashed liberty bonds from a Marion county arson case after securing bail and kept 1300 as fees. Final arguments were made by both sides.
The ancient fire engine belonging to Capt. M. W. Shields was moved from the Farmers' Club display to the private engine-house on est street near the Blish Mill after being draped in black for George Heintz, a former city council member who helped fund the engine. Heintz’s death prompted the display and the engine’s public use ended. the Third Ward Engine House, built in memory of a 1885 Blish Mill disaster, persists as the engine’s home and honors Capt. M W Shields.
The Junior Baseball League squad traveled to Browns Town this afternoon to play the Brownstown entry at the field west of town at 2 p m. Fourteen boys rode in autos with Ralph Collins directing practice. The team beat the county seat last week and faces a tough foe today with a tentative lineup led by Bowman Gregory Dittmer and Fleetwood. Storey suffered a back injury in practice prompting a lineup shift.
Public invited to a Lutheran picnic at Gaiser Park this Sunday featuring a baseball game and a band concert.

Projects include new branch plants in Edgewater New Jersey Richmond California Seattle Washington and three soon to be announced sites. An additional 3 million funds a Dearborn water tunnel intake house and pump house, claimed as the world’s largest industrial tunnel with two miles length and a daily capacity of one billion gallons.
Funeral services for Mrs Letitia M Benke who died Wednesday after pneumonia will be held at 2 30 PM Friday at the Voss mortuary. Rev J Willard Yoder of St Paul Congregational Church will officiate. Friends may call at the mortuary at any time.

He aims to purge the force, assert control over trials, and push for prosecutors to seek penitentiaries or the electric chair for gangsters. Terre Haute Indiana June 19 Jacob Dudley 14 of Marion Heights fell from a tree near the Paris interurban line Stop 6 and was electrocuted on a traction company high tension wire. Companions witnessed the accident as the boy slipped while seeking a bird nest near the railroad viaduct.
