Five Columbus youths injured in Federal Highway crash
Five young people from Columbus were injured in a morning crash on Federal Highway 50 six miles east of the city. Lester Bunton, driver of the Powell Chevrolet car, admitted lacking a driver's license and was fined. The other car belonged to Mike Hauersperger. occupants included W. J. Brown, Miss Mary West, Mrs. Margaret Wolf, and Miss Pauline McKay, all injured.

Man Burned When Asphalt Fumes Ignite
An employee of the Rock Road Construction Company of Chicago was burned Thursday night when fumes from liquid asphalt ignited. He carried a lantern atop a tank near the Pennsylvan ia Railroad track north of the Indiana Ox Fibre Company. The blaze was controlled by chemicals before major damage. The unnamed worker suffered burns to his left forearm and left cheek, but returned to work. Several highway workers were unloading the car. the injured man was alone on top when the incident occurred as spectators gathered for the response. It was the first run after several idle days.

Dude Bandit Walden Sentenced in Indiana Heists
Rudolph Walden of Chicago, dubbed the dude bandit, was captured in Monticello Indiana after a spree that included a Marion Dickason Station hold up in the city. He received a three to ten year sentence in Michigan City for the hold up charges.
