Yucatan Sails For Uyak After Seattle Arrival

Yucatan arrived in port from Seattle at 3 P M yesterday and sailed for Uyak this morning to load peer salmon. She will return in three days or less. Local cargo included 43000 feet of bridge timber for the Alaska Central and 75 tons of general merchandise. The steamer bypassed Katalla and arrived in under six days. A street rumor about Seward and Santa Ana beaching at Katalla is false as both steamers suffered steering gear derangements and moved adrift.

Santa Clara Brings Fifty Seven Passengers to Port

The Santa Clara arrived from Seattle Thursday morning carrying fifty seven passengers including about a dozen graduates of Reynolds school of railroad construction at Valdez, formerly Seward residents in good standing. The steamer also brought 125 tons of freight with goods bound for westward ports and 80 tons of coal for the Dora. She sidestepped Katalla on this voyage and will repeat on the return trip, sailing for Seattle at 9 o'clock Friday morning.
