Seward Growth Praised as Alaska's Rising Hub by Hale
Hale, president of Bank of Seward, praises Seward’s rapid growth during Seattle visit. He notes new bank building, multiple business blocks, ongoing rail work to mile 75, and strong mineral coal discoveries in Matanuska Susitna and Cantwell valleys. He predicts Seward handling vast jobbing and finance for much of the territory once the Alaska Central railroad reaches Tanana. Tramps estimate cited: 80,000 in low mood seasons, per British committee report.
