Tests showed kerosene at 66 to 72 degrees, below the 105 degree legal flash test. mixed with gasoline or naphtha, the oil was a dangerous combination. Standard Oil deliveries to merchants from a tank wagon with adjacent spouts likely caused the mix. The incident prompts stronger safety measures and ongoing civil action for damages.
