Iowa dairymen seek $30,000,000 annual boost from legislature
In Waterloo, prominent Iowa dairymen urged state lawmakers to fund up to a dozen dairy instruction schools and hire instructors to boost production. They claim cows could raise butterfat output from 149 to 30-50 pounds a year, potentially adding 30 to 40 million dollars in annual profits. W. H. Barney, president of the Iowa State Dairy Association, said state support is overdue and pledged to secure bipartisan candidate pledges ahead of May.
