On the steamer Massachusetts a mutiny over food led to a revolver battle in which James Slocum a foreman was killed. The incident occurred in New York with others injured as laborers clashed during meal disputes aboard the ship.

Eastman Expands Timber Holdings and New Lumber Co.

B W Eastman, president of Wis awa Lumber and head of Waterloo Wholesale Timber, bought 2500 acres of yellow pine timber land near Beaumont Texas. He organized Eastman Hewett Lumber Co with Beaumont headquarters. He recently acquired 2000 acres of timberland in Louisiana for Waterloo Wholesale Lumber Co. Mrs McCord has recovered from surgery and returned home at 1118 Lafayette Street.

Noted Lecturer Mrs Collins Dies in Cleveland

Mrs M J Collins a noted lecturer on scientific subjects died at her Cleveland home Monday at 2 pm after a prolonged illness. She was 57 and leaves four children two married, a sister Mrs John Thompson Waterloo and another sister Mrs Joly Pauley Clarksville. Her husband died a year ago. A coincidence marked her passing as it occurred the hour her sister was burying her husband.
