Woman in jail threatens death over larceny case
SAYS SHE WOULD death by own action, Fannie Colvin Baum, confined In the county jail awaiting action of the Braid jury on the charge of larceny from 2 building in the night time, created a disturbance in the corridors Wednesday night, which kept the twenty or more inmates awake long after they desired to be. Since being placed in the county jail Mrs. Baum has feigned illness, and on Wednesday morning presented a proscription to the sheriff calling for twenty ounces of laudanum, five ounces of sweet oil and five ounces of hartshorn. The prescription was not filled, and this angered the prisoner to the extent that she set up unearthly noises and protested she would commit death by own action unless relieved. A physician was called and found there was really nothing the matter with her, and the noises ceased. She has been warned to quit on the soft pedal or she would be placed in a cell where her cries would awaken the echoes.
