Chariton Iowa reports a blaze at Swift's restaurant that engulfed six brick stores and the post office on the north side of the square. The raging fire destroyed real estate offices and medical practices, with a total loss estimated at 100000 dollars. The post office and its contents were burned as authorities investigated the incident.
Joel G. Vanesse of Equitable Life testified at the insurance investigation, saying Henry B. Hyde pressed him to inflate dividends on deferred policies about fifteen years ago. He reported to VP Alexander, who warned of the risks and had Hyde yield. Mrs. Del Scholes remains sick at home.

A new order of Daughters of Isabella was organized last night at 1416 West Fourth Street with about forty charter members. Officers include Grand Regent Mrs Clara McCavick and Deputy Grand Regent Mrs Dora O Keefe. A Waterloo baseball association committee reported raising $600 for a winter fair.
A long list of properties on West Third Street Fourth Street Wellington and nearby avenues shows two story dwellings, barns, and additions. Names include L Kingaman J Woods L Larsen Thomas Ferguson J Wray Shaffner Campbell and Logan Mary Conger Gronen Wilson and many others with addresses across Westfield and nearby streets. Public building and commercial projects include a dairy separator company plant and a Canfield Lumber Co addition.

Maquoketa residents Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tinker were injured in Chicago when a folding bed collapsed trapping them. Mr. Tinker suffered severe neck and paralysis injuries and is not expected to survive. Mrs. Tinker is ill but expected to recover. They were visiting son Frank B. Tinker on Forty third Street.
Sheriff Caldwell reports a 300 reward from Illinois governor and Fulton county authorities for information leading to the arrest of Joseph Magiano and Joseph Malaski, Italian coal miners wanted for Tod Roaso’s murder in Farmington on November 26. Descriptions and photos are being distributed nationwide to aid capture and prosecution. The pair are said to be comrades, drink heavily, and Malanki smokes cigarettes.
A garbled 1818 notice describes a low raid planned by Rock Island line agents in Minneapolis. It mentions ticketing through their agents and a train service described as in very good shape.
