Two Arrested in $300 Theft Case
Wm. and Hannah Smith, both colored, are under arrest and in Sheriff Walsh custody charged with stealing $300 from Will Ruxton. The incident is dated around September 17. Hearing set for Saturday September 25 at 9:00 a.m. before Mayor Tyler. County Attorney Ward leads for the state, E. H. Lundy for the defense. Cordner traced the culprits to Fairfield and aided in capture.

Eldora high school lost 9 to 7 to Grundy Center high school at the Grundy County fair. Umpire decisions and lineup changes, including Swartz leaving pitching, helped swing the outcome. Original and new lineups listed. Grundy Center scored 1 in inning one, 1 in four, and 7 in the ninth. Eldora tallied 2 in two, 3 in five, and 2 in the ninth.
