A lighthearted basket social is planned at the Berlin schoolhouse next Friday evening, Oct. 14. Girls will bring baskets and boys bring money to bid on them with three prizes for the best pig drawn in the dark. Mari bel Rose teaches. J. Allen Spencer Jr. and Maude B. Attwooll of Alden wed at the bride’s Alden home Thursday evening.

Mrs. Maude Hamilton charges that ledgers of the Lillooet and Hawkeye Gold Dredging offices were packed and taken to Chicago for experts to “fix up.” She says officials ordered the work and that the Chicago effort could not be fully explained locally. An expert named Angel worked two weeks there, but the book dates could not be certified to.

Phrenology and humor frame a review of A Breezy Time at Wisner Opera House on October 15. The piece extols mirth as life extension and inner virtue, praising the company as a first class entertainment offering good meal and amusement in a breezy performance.
