Eldora high school graduates present Esmeralda at Wisner opera house on Tuesday evening next May 31. The cast features Estabrook Miller Rogers Hal Hardin Desmond Jackson Higginbotham Porter Smith Burling Desmond Cobb Desmond Landes Lepley Finster with Lillie Lepley as Neighbor Girl. Admission is 25 cents, proceeds fund a class memorial for the high school.

A Memorial Day observance by E C Buckner Post and Women’s Relief Corps includes cemetery decoration in Buckner cemetery Monday morning, with a 1 PM GA J hall gathering and a 2 PM opera house public program featuring music, readings, a flag presentation, and an address. All old soldiers and visiting comrades are invited to participate.
Cottage priced at 1300 dollars and residence at 2200 dollars. A 100 acre farm offered for 6000 dollars. Sale handled by L Hays.
Mrs. Sarah Lavina Pangburn born November 22 1847 in Jackson County Indiana died May 23 1904 in Marshalltown Iowa Married to Ichabod Pangburn November 25 1806 who died December 21 1898 Eight children born four daughters and four sons Frank and Cora died young Surviving children listed including P H Morrison Cordila Forbush Edward Oliver M Burton and Maude The funeral was held at the Marshalltown home and interment at New Providence beside husband and children. Card of thanks from the family expresses gratitude for support and sympathy
Citizens are asked to contribute flowers for decoration for a weekend event at the G A R hall. Please bring blooms Sunday evening or early Monday morning to assist in preparing the setup.
The Grand Army committee and citizens request all display national colors and close businesses May 30 from 2 to 4 PM during local Decoration Day exercises. Mayor Gilman earnestly recommends compliance with the closure.
Prof H E Blackman of Emmetsburg elected superintendent of county public schools. Prof P F Voeler of Ida Grove former Ackley educator buys Keith Vawker’s stake in Midland schools but will not take active management, remaining at Ida Grove. Nellie Wall of Whitten leaves teaching next year to study art. Prof Kuehne of Radcliffe re-elected with raise. New Providence will launch an all new teacher corps. Luther Carter named principal. Mrs Charles Mitchener to intermediate dept. Algona woman to primary. County supervisor plans extensive visits in May and June to town and country schools. Hardin County Normal Institute to convene Eldora Aug 8-20. Hubbard, Radcliffe, Iowa Falls, Whitten schools close this week.
A Memorial Day program at Steam Boat Rock features a procession from the school house led by the band, marching to Congregational church for music, sermons, recitations, and the Gettysburg address by Ethel Dougherty. After church, children decorate soldiers' graves at the cemetery. Dr B E Purcell offers eye ear nose and throat services at Emergency hospital on May 17 and 31.
