The text notes M. W. Moir was postmaster at that ante and mentions several Akley saloons have been closed. Albrook is at Grimily Center and this week attending court. A number of teachers attended the association at Akley Saturday.
Local sportsmen met at Judge Jno Porter’s office to organize the Eldora Fish and Game Club. Elected officers include President P S Davis, Vice President W J Murray, Secretary Dr H W Emeny, and Treasurer B E Davis. The group aims to ensure proper obedience to fish and game laws and mutual benefit.
O L Ingledue elected mayor in a tightly contested Marshalltown Iowa election with a plurality under 75 as A C Daly and Joseph Eyermayer trailed. Other officers chosen include Burritt Elliott Guhart Rubee Clark Sieg Iseman McMatnes Sen ucka. Peterson Heat Light and Water franchise carried by large margin.
A union temperance service at the M E church Sunday night drew large turnout from city congregations. Rev C C Warner of Congregational church delivered a forceful address urging Christians to shun liquor and enforce the law, with support from Rev W S Stanley Rev Huffman and Rev Geo B Shoemaker. The sermon spurred vigilance and a push to make illegal sales unpopular. The speaker commended the county attorney and urged backing him, as pastors endorsed Warner's message. The service left temperance sentiments strongly aroused for the time ahead.
District court opens Monday morning with motions and demurrers. Reeves-Lamm case resumes after dinner and may end today. Criminal cases, including liquor indictment, postponed to August term. Rarity cases to be tried the rest of the week, with some to Hampton by consent as Judge Evans begins next week.
Eldora voters cast a light turnout with contests only in the First and Second wards. C I Greer and Nathan Brickman tied in ward one while ward two saw 27 votes for George Jepsen and 11 for L S I Brown. Leo Marks and George Marks ran unopposed in wards three and four, with about 32 votes each. Park commissioner candidate Parker S. Davis ran unopposed.

A Monday library club room meeting selected the same five person slate as last year to form the Eldora Lecture Course Committee for next season. The group reviewed finances, approved continuing the ad committee, and adopted a reserved seat system for ticket holders, with informal notes on potential lecturers.
Miss Thornton of St Paul opens a millinery department at the New Store with an experienced trimmer. She plans Aldora as home for a prosperous millinery business and invites Thor a ladies to inspect the stock now on display. Formal opening dates to be announced later.
Plans are perfected for the third annual Hardin County Anti-Saloon League convention on Monday May 1 at Eldora. The executive committee expects State Workers to attend and sessions will be at the Congregational church with the program to be announced. Secretary Geo E Shoemaker notes the event.
Died Sunday March 2 at the old home near Secor after a brief illness from pneumonia. Funeral held yesterday at ten in Secor, burial in Secor Cemetery. Survived by three sons and many relatives. A fuller obituary will appear next issue. No further facts available at this time.
