Citizens of Eldora and Hardin County are invited to visit the Big Store to inspect a range of dry goods and methods of doing business. Special inducements in each department promise standard makes and reliable quality with prices said to be the lowest available in any large city.
A period sale advertises fabric discounts with 36 inch taffeta silk at 1.25 per yard, 38 inch granite cloth at 98 cents per yard, summer silks up to 50 cents per yard, and colored serges and brocades at 50 cents per yard while stock lasts.
The Grocery Room touts lower cash prices than credit stores with items such as Pumpkin Holly brand three pound cans at 15 cents each full weight claims, Lennox soap seven bars for 25 cents, Yeast Foam 3 cents per package or two for 5 cents, Fancy corn three cans for 25 cents, June peas 25 cents per can, sardines in oil per can, Lima beans two pounds for 15 cents, shell oyster crackers two pounds for 5 cents, good Japan rice per pound, and Walter Baker's chocolate two dozen? cake at 20 cents.
Men receive a bold sale of laundered and unlaundered white shirts at 50c, fancy shirts 75c, work shirts 35c, extra heavy overalls 65c, lighter overalls 50c, neckwear 25c, and spring hats at 1.50, all in latest styles and colors. Local shop promotes value with wide selection and low prices.
A small newspaper ad lists Oxford Suitings in various shades at per yard rates, 250 Lace Swiss Lawns in latest style per yard, and Antrim Lawns advertised as warranted fast colors per yard with price. The fragmentary copy mixes textile listings with unclear trailing text.
