Eldora trimmed Charles City 7 to 5 in a fast game. Eldora scored in the second to take the lead, both sides tallied five in the sixth, then held firm as no scoring occurred. Jacobsen and Geeen pitched amid a large crowd. note the earlier Eldora loss to Charles City 8 to 0 with Swofford pitching poorly.
Hardin county board of supervisors convened in Eldora on June 15 1909 with all members present. They reviewed the county treasurer’s office and adjourned to June 16 then to 1:30 pm after health and joint Grundy County matters and drainage and road issues. Audits and minutes were checked with plans to reconvene June 22 1909.
The 32d Iowa Infantry holds its 27th annual reunion in Eldora on Wednesday and Thursday, June 23 and 24, with meetings at the Presbyterian church. Notables such as Hon. W J Allen of Nebraska and Dean Geo F Barselow of Memorial College, Mason City, will attend. A Baptist church banquet is planned Thursday. Only surviving Eldora members listed include Elijah Hayden, J S Kersey, W J Bowers, J M St John, and Marion Sefton. Sixty two attended last year’s Boone reunion, expected again.
Eldora High School Alumni Association hosted its annual program and banqu et at Congregational church parlors on Friday evening. A large turnout attended the revival of the association with President Murray of the First National Bank serving as toastmaster.
The Hardin county institute drew 210 teachers this year with round table A grade discussions and energized instruction. Rev. Stanley and Rev. Father Convery led devotions while Mr. Nelson spoke on agriculture and corn judging. Miss Holton and Miss Farnsworth received praise for influence and music, with Eldora picnic and a closing session planned by county officials.
Chicago attorney J W Gillis visits Eldora to study a railroad right of way between Grundy Center and Eldora for Iowa Construction Co The team plans a route from Eldora through Grundy Center toward Des Moines The piece notes other local visits weather and church notices plus upcoming services and events.
