Hardin County teachers convene at Eldora high school for the annual normal institute. Eula Starr Passes After Prolonged Illness at 15
Eldora mourns the death of Eula Lillian Starr born August 7, 1893 in Jackson township Hardin county. She died June 4 1909 at Eldora after sixteen weeks of illness. Daughter of J B Starr Jr she was loved for kindness and her desire to help others. Funeral services were held at the Congregational church with pallbearers and honorary pallbearers from her school friends and community.

Jerome Seabury Killed by Train in Marshalltown
Jerome Seabury 73 a former Steamboat Rock and Union resident was killed by a Northwestern fast train in Marshalltown Sunday morning while watching arrivals from Union with a companion. He served in the 92nd Illinois Infantry and later lived at the Soldiers Home in Marshalltown. The body was sent to Union for burial with interment there Monday afternoon.
