Takes His Own Life in Clay Township Barn
Alphonza Welch known as Al Welch of Clay township ends his life with a double barreled gun after domestic troubles and divorce proceedings. He had been staying at his brother A L Welch’s home when he shot himself in the brain, the community shaken by the tragedy. Mrs Welch has been living in Michigan. divorce case not resolved and may be stricken.

The Herald reports a peculiar inquiry from Joseph Kirk of Stewartstown Pennsylvania asking if a James Webster, said to have sold a ranch near Fldora Iowa and taken about 30000 dollars, ever ended up in a poor house. He asks editors to verify truth or fiction and notes sending two stamps for a reply.
