Notable entries include A F Repp of Iowa Falls on business, F H Noble returning from the East, Geo Althouse visiting from Ackley World, and Master Stanley Stuart departing for Alabama with relatives. Also listed are Mrs. Geo F Smith traveling to Michigan, W W Willcox family visiting Des Moines, Charles E Vorbeck taking a Hamburg Germany trip, Drs. Wyllis Andrews and N S Davis Jr visiting July 15 16, with ties to Dr. Morse, and Mrs. Jos Wallace visiting Chicago en route to St Paul to spend the summer.
A local meeting at the M E church forms a seven member committee to arrange a fall and winter lecture course for Eldora. Lorado Taft is selected for the first number on August 11 with others to be announced. Ticket prices set at 175 for adults and 100 for children as the community backs a top quality lyceum series.
William Smith born Glasgow June 1 1849 died Eldora June 28 1903 aged 54 years 10 days. Twin of John Smith Grundy county. Immigrated with family to Wisconsin then Eldora 1864. Harness-maker by trade later retired. Died at Emergency Hospital after months of frailty with brothers by bedside. Funeral held Tuesday 2 pm conducted by Rev John P Clyde. He leaves six brothers and many relatives.
