Miss Josephine Gilman arranged a private party at the George Gilman home last Friday evening with parental consent. Obituary for Chas Nichols at Wellsburg
On February 11 1003 Mr Chas Nichols died at his home near Wellsburg at nine oclock Wednesday forenoon after a brief illness. He was born November 22 1843 in Chautauqua County New York and aged 60 years 2 months 23 days. He moved with his parents to New York then Illinois then Grundy County Iowa where he lived 37 years. A Civil War veteran in Co D 6th Iowa Infantry he married Mien Booth in 1872 who survives him. He leaves a wife six children two sisters and a brother in Illinois. The funeral was held Friday at one p m from the home Rev Theilken of Walfsbury officiating and interment followed at Dunkard cemetery.

The Hardin County Farmers Institute held at Iowa Halls two days last week was one of the most successful in its history. Corn judging was a highlight, with officers elected including President George S. Forest and Secretary W. J. Carpenter.
