Sacred Cantata The Holy Infant Rendered in Iowa City

The Sacred Cantata The Holy Infant by Frederic Wield Bullard was presented at the Iowa Industrial School for Boys chapel by top school talent with Mrs. Crockett Mrs. Koeneman and J M Merrill in key roles. The sixteen to eighteen member chorus and six to seven strong orchestra supported Jno Merrill who directed the piece. The event drew about 500 attentive boys and a town audience. A hope was voiced to repeat it at the opera house for the city’s poor.

Insurance war ends as county boards plan 30000 split

County attorney Noble orders all policies issued by his companies cancelled. As we go to press it is contemplated the board will divide the 30000 in insurance among twenty agencies in the county. The move aims to escape the onslaught of persistent agents.

Eldora Center Telephone Line 2 Holds Annual Dinner

Members of Eldora Center Telephone Line 2 held their second annual dinner at the West Side home of Mr. and Mrs B S Ruxton with about seventy five attendees. A bountiful dinner followed and the day was long remembered. The next meeting will be at the home of Mr and Mrs William Fenton.

The Man in the Moon Autobiography Preview

A fragment from the Dunlap Herald includes a preliminary note by the 200t Century Company about a meteor or artificial celestial object found in Buncomb County North Carolina near the Black and Ma Houdin rivers. The piece claims 30 ton “acrolite” delivered to Yale Polytechnic Institute and hints at deciphered inscribed plates. It also contains a long spoof autobiographical piece attributed to a space object named Liam with a whimsical birth in Space and a family of planets, ending with an ad for dentists.
