Protest Sustained In Board Of Appeals Ruling
The American Trotting Association board of appeals met in Chicago December 7 and 8 and sustained a protest over the 2:25 trot at Eldora on September 17, 1909. Chas Schrage of Wellsburg and Wm Beecroft of Eldora vs C E Agler of Dows and Young Gentry and F W Agler are party to the case. The ruling redistributed winnings from the two horses to Carrie B and Chas Schrage, with further cases to be heard at the spring meeting. Joe Hardin of Des Moines visited the Hardin home over Christmas.

Farmer Burns Sermon Draws Eldora Crowds At Opera House
Farmers, townsmen, and visitors packed the opera house Tuesday to hear Farmer Burns speak on physical culture and temperance. Burns and Linn Ruby then wrestled, Burns winning two falls while Ruby, out of training, fought well. two preliminaries saw Sullivan beat Crosby and Race defeat Bonner.

New Officers for Hardin County Fair Recall 1909 Election

Burglar Burnes Sentenced in Clarion District Court
Judge C E Albrook in Clarion district court sentenced C Burnes of Des Moines to five years in the penitentiary for burglary. Burnes was shot in the face by Dr Theodore Roosevelt, a dentist, as the intruder approached the basement door for the third time. The first trial ended with a hung jury. The judge noted that an indictment for breaking and entering could have brought life imprisonment. This is the third man Judge Albrook has sentenced at Clarion.
