Eldora public sales show strong demand and higher prices
Sales across Eldora in recent weeks ran unusually well with strong demand for hay, corn and cattle. Hay brought about 15 per ton in town, corn averaged around 50 cents, and hogs sold from 8 to 12 cents. The Jesse sale totaled about 3500 dollars, higher than expected, while the John Chilton auction surpassed forecasts at about 2500 dollars.
Gilman Holding His Own After Stroke of Misfortune
Charles Gilman has returned from Yaukee and reports Ed Gilman is holding his own. Doctors at the hospital prepared an Ex-Ray exam for the bullet Monday, but the rest has not been received here yet.

Chaperon Pleased Large Audience At School Operetta
The high school auditorium hosted the operetta The Chaperon and a program by E H S Glee Club on Friday evening. Solos, piano duet, readings, and a Japanese song delighted the crowd while a boys quartet performed Fairy Moonlight. A debate on department stores preceded the curtain. Receipts topped $40 with about $35 to fund new equipment.

In a Webster City joint session Franklin Wright and Hamilton counties awarded the Big Four drainage ditch contract to Northern Construction Co of Elk Hart Ind for 59000. The 27 mile, 1 000 000 cubic yard project runs through four counties and should start April 1 1910 and finish January 1 1911. Estimated cost was 868 000, letting comes 4 000 under the estimate. Total estimated cost with damages and preliminaries is 75000. Steve Moser visited Ackley Monday on business.
