Town Happenings From Eldora Area Drowns at Dakota Lake

Report from Eldora and Dakota Lake details the drowning of Young Hoover during a lake bathing incident in South Dakota. His clothes were found in a boat and his body was not immediately recovered, then later located and expected to arrive home in Eldora. Hardin District Court Opens August Term With Large Docket

The Hardin district court convened Monday morning with Judge J. H. Richard presiding. A grand jury and trial jurors were drawn. 16 State cases are listed, including two appeals and multiple nuisance and probate matters. Numerous local attorneys will appear. cases disposed to Tuesday noon included several settlements and dismissals.

Conference reaches accord as busy week opens in Portsmouth

Portsmouth on August 29 reports the conference has arrived at complete accord on all questions. Tom Newby’s machine began threshing Monday at the Geo Vigars farm. Several families from the locality attended the pioneers’ annual picnic near Lawo Mill Sunday.

Mrs. F. Miller spent several days last week at her daughter Mrs. J. T. Walton's home in Pleas ant township. An ice cream and basket sociable at the M. E. church in Gifford Friday evening drew a good crowd and the aid society collected about 20 dollars.
