Hardin County Normal Week Two Opens With Enrollment

The Hardin County Normal Institute enters its second week with about two hundred students and rising interest. Three instructors depart, replaced by A F Styles, H E Blackmar, Anna McGovern. lectures feature Edwin Nye and Rev. Barsalou. A large art display and contests showcase pupil work amid prize events and social gatherings.

Educational Day Draws Large Crowd at Iowa Falls Chautauqua

On Friday July 28 the Iowa Falls Chautauqua enjoyed a cool pleasant day with a large turnout. The C N W special train carried over four hundred passengers and the Short Line earned good delegations. By nightfall about 1800 people had assembled, with three programs offered in the afternoon to accommodate the crowd.

Will of Moneylender Gallagher Gifts Priests in Iowa

William Gallagher of Hampton dies in Wisconsin and his will filed in Franklin county names many Catholic priests as main beneficiaries. Bequests include 400 to Francis Gallagher Graceville Minnesota and 300 to St. Mary's Orphanage Dubuque with other sums to various priests and homes. Executors named W L G I and T J B Robinson and N A Inglis. Gallagher suspected to hold substantial notes and mortgages, indicating substantial wealth.

Professionals Turn Back Business Men In City Baseball

A city league game at the fairgrounds saw the Professional Men defeat the Business Men nine to seven in nine innings. Notable moments included a home run by Lawyer Moser and pitching by Underwood Horsch and Scurry. Educational Day drew hundreds to Iowa Falls before the planned rematch next Thursday.

Mrs Cora Games Manning died at home after a lengthy illness aged thirty. She is survived by her husband and one child. Funeral and burial were held from the Fourth ward residence on Sunday at 2 30 p m conducted by Rev W E Stanley Baptist church.
