Eldora School Board Elects Recruits and Raises Pay
At a board of education meeting Eldora re elected most teachers while Miss Gerheart and Miss Granner were not applicants. Eva Saucer was not an applicant for the high school post but received a $6 monthly raise. A week later three teachers will be chosen for the third to fifth rooms and a fourth high school teacher may be hired to ease Prof Cavana’s schedule.

Dan Shafer Faces Burglary Charge
Dan Shafer was arrested Thursday afternoon by Sheriff Walsh on a burglary charge. He allegedly took wrenches and brass fittings from Walker, Lane & Johnston at their freight room near the C N W depot. A burglary conviction carries one to ten years in prison under state law.

Swanson Returns as Plumber Weds Miss Estelle Konklin
Carl A. Swanson, former Eldor resident and trained plumber, returns to work for the local hardware dealer. He brings his bride Estelle Konklin from Garden Grove Iowa, who was known there until March 11. They rent the Chilson property by the Central depot and begin housekeeping.

Miss Viola Vigars and Robert Wilson of Union wed Wednesday evening at the bride’s parents home six miles south of Eldora. Baseball season opens at E H S with practice game
The first season game between E. H. S. and I. I. S. was a 9 to 6 result for I. I. S. over E. H. S. Knight and Lloyd pitched for I. I. S. Rob inson catcher. Hall, Lockwood, Landes, Jones, Howell, Hart, Gember ling, White, and others filled the E. H. S. lineup. Two accidents occurred including Hall's finger injury. An executive committee meeting at the high school planned the county field meet and funding from recent plays. Measles in grades. seniors await pennant replacement.

Two Big Cases Heard This Week Before Judge Wright
Two major trials occupied Judge Wright this week. First, the Walker Will case ended with the will broken and John Walker effectively disinherited. Lundy Wood of Eldora and F M Williams of Iowa Falls led the contestants. E P Andrews, David Evans, H C Liggett of Hampton, and Ward Williams of Eldora represented the proponents. W H Berry of Hampton defended the will. The estate totaled about 20000 dollars and appeal is possible. Later, Elzey v. St Paul & Des Moines railroad focused on measurements of material from a cut on the Iowa Falls to Mason City line. The original amount was about 47000 dollars, later narrowed to 6400 after concessions. settlement reached at 3200 dollars on Friday forenoon.
