Insurance Plan Revised For Farmers In Missouri
F Reed Grainger announced a revised spring crop insurance program for Missouri farmers via the Federal Crop Insurance Corp. The FCIC plans to add eight counties this year with new coverage for corn soybeans and cotton including Dunklin Mississippi Pemiscot and Stoddard. Platte Boone Clinton Randolph and Platte Counties gain corn and soybean protection with Platte also offering tobacco insurance. Grain sorghum insurance debuts in Vernon Bates and Henry counties. The state will see higher coverage levels for soybeans and corn in 48 counties. Since 1938 Missouri farmers have received about 1.66 dollars in loss payments for each dollar paid in premiums, FCIC paid over 350000 for crop losses due to freezing moisture and floods in 1965.
