Fire Kills Two Near Buffalo
Two teenagers rescued a mother and her 5-year-old daughter from a burning home three miles southeast of Buffalo Missouri after an explosion started the blaze. The house trapped two other children, 3-year-old Joe Harrison and 6-month-old Michael Harrison, who died in the flames. Mrs Rosemary Harrison remained in critical condition at a Springfield hospital. Brenda Harrison, 5, was in satisfactory condition. Neighbors Charlene Young, 17, and David McHenry, 18, alerted emergency crews and pulled the survivors to safety.

Ground is Broken for Library at Nazarene Seminary
Ground was broken Thursday for a $395000 library at the Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City. Dr. Hugh C. Benner founder and first president was honored at a service before the ceremony. Construction is expected to begin in about two months on a one story brick building.

Pettis County Youth Training Program Sees 85 Applications
The Pettis County youth training and enrichment program, funded by a federal Economic Opportunity Act grant, has 85 applicants. Extension youth agent Hardy L. Cobb reports progress, noting some applicants aim to resume high school and others pursue employment or further education. Since Oct 1, 1965, about 75 youths have been counseled, with four gaining employment and one young mother returning to school. February will include aptitude testing, and plans feature field trips and job training in engine mechanics electricity and sewing. The grant runs through Sept 30, 1966, with in kind county support and space supplied by the University Extension Council.
