Lawton Oklahoma voters backed Joe Tuttle a Pettis county born lawyer as representative nominee in the Comanche County Democratic convention after a long ballot fight. The telegram notes Tuttle trained in Sedalia and served as first lieutenant in Company D and is son of former Pettis legislator Col W F Tuttle.

Counterfeiting Arrests Reported in Cross Timbers Area

Hickory County Republicans say deputy U S marshal J E Morrison and U S Secret Service agent T R McManus arrested Legron Bennett for counterfeiting with babbitt metal. They found likeness impressions of 1888 dollars and money making fixtures in Bennett's loft, while a partner was detained in Clinton. Perth Springs session elected officers and planned a 1903 meeting with date to be set by the executive committee.

Mexican War Veterans Hold Missouri Centennial Meeting

In Columbia on September 12 the Mexican war veterans of Missouri held their quarter century gathering with sixty five members present. They formed pensions committees to lobby Congress for Civil War pension parity, noting the $12 monthly limit for Mexican War vets. Old Settlers elected Col. William F. Switzler as president and Col. Ely Hodge as secretary treasurer with Rev. J. M. Maguire historian and Rev. W. T. Maupin chaplain.

Hog struck by lightning cured with moving carriage device

A Poland-China hog owned by A. Gibson of Anderson county was injured when lightning struck a tree sheltering it. The farmer devised a traveling carriage trapeze to move the animal, hoping to restore circulation and use of its legs after the shock.
